First Game Jam Submission and First Public Game
I'm thrilled to share my first game jam submission and, in a way, my first game released to the public. This project was created for GDTV's 2024 game jam, which followed the theme "Last Stand" – hence the title of my game. Initially, I joined a team before the jam started, but unfortunately, things didn't work out as planned. Despite this setback, I decided to continue participating, even though I would be going solo and starting a few days late.
The week I spent on this project was almost entirely dedicated to learning how to create AI characters, which I found the be a fun new challenge. This focus on AI development significantly reduced the time I could allocate to other aspects of the game, such as the player's character and weapon. As a result, these elements are still lacking in terms of feel and polish.
Despite these challenges, I gained invaluable experience in developing AI within Unreal Engine. This process of creating this game has provided me with new skills and an increased confidence to create more comprehensive games in the future. Although this game may not be perfect, it represents a significant milestone for me as a game developer, and I am excited to continue improving and creating.
From here, I'll be taking a breather, as The Final Shape expansion for Destiny 2 is very soon. But I would like to come back to this soon to further develop on existing features and mechanics, as well as add a few more I had initially hoped to include.
